Our Story

How we met:

So, our story begins through my twin sister, Brianna, who actually knew Dylan before I did and is the whole reason we ended up together. (As she would proudly say!)

Dylan was her band section leader and Brianna found out that he was an identical twin. She told him that she, in fact, was also a twin. Since I was not in the band, and he'd never seen me, he did not believe Brianna, to which she said: "I'll prove it to you."

That same day, she came home and told me the whole story and I asked to see a picture of him. When she showed me a picture of him in his band uniform, I blurted out: "He's really cute." She had a big grin on her face and informed me he was a big dinosaur nerd, and ironically, I was also into dinosaurs.

(Admittedly he was WAY more into dinosaurs than I was.)

Brianna told me she would help me meet him, which happened to be around the time of our homecoming. At homecoming, I was dancing with a couple of my friends when Brianna appeared in the crowd and pulled me aside, telling me to come help prove a point. At the back of the crowd was Dylan standing with a couple of friends. Brianna presents me to Dylan and says: "See!? I told you she was real!" We all laughed and Dylan proceeded to show me his fun dance moves, including the Russian kick dance. We exchanged snaps and began talking a few days later.

First Date:

Around December, at the time of our band and choir Christmas performances, Dylan asked me to go see the new Star Wars movie. I was so excited to be going on the date that I completely forgot my jacket when we went to the movie. We actually drove with the windows down when it was 60-degree weather that evening, and I was feeling shy so I couldn't get the courage to ask him to roll the windows up. Aside from being cold, it was the best date I'd ever been on, and I knew from then on, I wanted to stay by his side.

The Proposal:

Years have flown by, we experienced many milestones, like going off to college, hitting anniversary milestones. Each of us moving into our first apartments. He with his twin and me with mine. 6 months into our 6th year of dating, we went on a family trip down to Corpus Christi. There had been little hints of Dylan possibly proposing, but I wasn't entirely sure he would. About 5 days into our trip, I was almost positive he was not proposing this trip. But that evening a little after sunset, he asked if I wanted to go walk to the docks by the Airbnb we were staying at. At those docks he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

The Wedding:

We would love for you to join us in the uniting of our families and celebrating our love. We can't wait to celebrate with you and start on the next chapter of our lives!

Lots of love,

Dylan & Amy
